Aquaponics

Aquaponics is a method to produce food using a combination of aquaculture (raising fish) and hydroponics (soil-less growing of plants). Within this symbiotic relationship, the fish waste provides an organic food source for the plants. The plants naturally filter water for the fish. The system relies on three live components to work successfully – plants, fish, and bacteria. There is some separation, with plants growing in a Deep Water Culture trough and the fish within a 300-gallon container. Join us on the farm and discover why Tilapia gets an unjust reputation and is great to grow in such a system.
